Bon Voyage, Ah Pig!

September has been an eventful month so far. Other than the staycation, it was feast after feast and gatherings with friends. The most significant one should be the family BBQ. It has been way too long since we had our last family gathering.  It was actually because Ah Pig is leaving to UK for her studies! All thanks to Simin for organising the BBQ and also to get the food prepared so that everyone can enjoy the BBQ.

Ah Pig is our youngest cousin, thus, it’s no doubt that everyone dotes on her and will worry for her when she is going to a faraway land to complete her studies. But of course, we are happy for her as she is able to experience a different lifestyle from all of us.  Something that given a chance, we wouldn’t have the financial ability to go. I guess it also takes a lot of courage for one to leave behind everything and go abroad to pursue own dreams.

Other than the BBQ, we also prepared a special gift for her. A gift which would allow her to remember us when she is there (if she brings it over that is). It’s a book of compilation of messages from most of the cousins, nieces, nephews and even the aunties! I bet it has been many years since the aunties have actually wrote such messages! I believe that Ah Pig is very very touched to receive this gift. I’m sure everyone will be and should be touched when receiving such a meaningful gift!

So on 14 September, the whole lot of us marched down to Changi Airport to send her off. Although she seldom turns up for our gatherings, we will still miss her. Haha! Took quite a few shots together. Can also see that auntie is really unwilling to let her go. And of course, similar to all farewells, tears were shed. We were all ok till tears started to flow out of her eyes and automatically, all of us started to cry as well. But they were gone as fast as they came. So all is fine! Just hope that Ah Pig has a good time in UK and graduate with flying colours! Oh yes! And that she must come back after 3 years!

Staycation at BIG Hotel.

It has been a while since we went for staycation. BF decided on BIG hotel after seeing the design of their room. It is his ideal design of how the master bedroom should be like in future. To our surprise, the room, that we were allocated, did not look like this at all. So you can imagine how disappointed he was. Nonetheless, we made the best out of this staycation to just rest and relax and enjoyed the many free movies that were available.

Plus points: Ice and water dispenser available along the corridor, many free movies for guests to enjoy, a separate Nexus tablet for you to control the lightings, the TV, light surfing.

Boohoo points: No BOTTLE OPENER!! (So we had to resort to googling for solutions before we can enjoy our Somersby!) Bathroom is a bit too small, Elevators are too slow.

Ok, enough about the room. Some events that are worth mentioning, that really stirred up the emotions in me.

1)      Personal Room Service. Thank you dear for waking up early to go out and buy breakfast back for me while I continued to snooze under the warm blanket. Thanks for being so sweet!

2)      Laksa without tau gei. Yes dear, I was really really surprised when the waitress informed that the bowl was without tau gei. You actually remembered that I don’t like tau gei in my laksa when I, myself, don’t remember to tell the waitress that. I was really touched when I found out.

3)       After watching “Café.Waiting.Love”, I jokingly asked dear, “So, 你要等一个人咖啡吗?” He replied, “不要，因为我已经等到了!” Being together for so long, I know you might say that he is just giving me the “politically right” answer that he knows I’m waiting for. However, it still makes me feel happy and loved as he is not the kind who will actually utter such affectionate sentences easily.

Thanks for making me feel so so so loved during this staycation. The little little things that you have done or say may seem insignificant to you, but they really matter a lot to me. I know you feel bad that you had to work a bit every now and then even when we are having the staycation; I understand and thanks for letting me know that you don’t feel good doing that as well. It really helps. Thank you, my dear, for entering my life and letting me in as well.

I guess humans' relationships are really very unique. No matter how long you know each other, be it friends, lovers or family, it is still very important that we show our appreciation, our gratitude, our sorry towards them, towards the people whom we care about. It may just be a simple “thank you” or a simple “sorry ah” but it still means something. It means that you are not taking the person for granted, well, at least to me.

 

每一个人，都在等一个人。等待一个，能看见你与众不同的，那个人。
